AOK4 Posted 18 August , 2003 Posted 18 August , 2003 Hello, I'm looking for information about a certain A. C. Dixon. He was an officer with the Tank Corps certainly at the end of the war. He is supposed to have been 2/Lt at the beginning of the war, and a Captain towards 1919. He is thought to have been awarded MC, 1914 or 1914-15 Star, BWM and Victory Medal with Palm. Could anyone find some more about this man? Regards, Jan
Michael Posted 18 August , 2003 Posted 18 August , 2003 Jan The only AC Dixons records are as follows WO 339/28041 DIXON A C, 2/Lieut WO 374/19850 DIXON, Major A C H L There are however a lot of Dixon A's I'll probably be going to the PRO on Thursday and will check them out for you. If he's not one of them, I'll check the MIC's for an AC Dixon officer. Michael
AOK4 Posted 18 August , 2003 Author Posted 18 August , 2003 Hello Michael, I'd really appreciate that. I tried the London Gazette but only found one Dixon who got the MC and he wasn't the one we were looking for. Jan
Michael Posted 18 August , 2003 Posted 18 August , 2003 Jan No problem with the look-up. I have little success with MC citations unless I search on the full name. Hpoefully I'll have that for you on Thursday Michael
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 18 August , 2003 Posted 18 August , 2003 For what its worth there is no mention of Dixon in the history of the Tank Corps by Williams-Ellis. Ian
Terry_Reeves Posted 18 August , 2003 Posted 18 August , 2003 The November 1918 Army List, shows a Temporary Lt AC Dixon of the Tank Corps with a seniority date of 26 July 1918. He has no awards although they could have been gazetted at a later date of course. Terry Reeves
AOK4 Posted 18 August , 2003 Author Posted 18 August , 2003 Thanks a lot Ian and Terry for your responses! Jan
