neutrino Posted 28 November , 2005 Share Posted 28 November , 2005 Just started reading it. Not knowledgeable about the Great War just interested. Anyway on page 41, R Holmes states that ''...Mametz Wood...39th (Welsh) Division was badly mauled''. I thought that the Welsh Division was the 38th. Not being picky just wondering if it's an error. Roxy Posted 29 November , 2005 Share Posted 29 November , 2005 A well known web site that readers may be familiar with, 'The Long, Long Trail', suggests that it was indeed the 38th(Welsh) Div involved at Mametz. It seems that even Brig Holmes can make a typo! Roxy
neutrino Posted 1 December , 2005 Author Share Posted 1 December , 2005 Of course you are right. And in fact now I've read a bit more of the book he gets the typo sorted later on. Knowing so little about the Great War I suppose I was trying to establish some credentials on here but quickly got found out.
