Guest Posted 26 November , 2005 Share Posted 26 November , 2005 You are presumably only referring to British women buried in CWGC cemeteries. There are many more women casualties of the Great War buried in Belgium.
Pierre Posted 26 November , 2005 Author Share Posted 26 November , 2005 Here is the additional information of the CWGC: (about EM Gladstone): Daughter of Cecil Ernest Gladstone (I.C.S.) and Florence Elliot Gladstone. Was not the third one Edith Cavell who was exhumed and returned to Norwich?

Pierre Posted 28 November , 2005 Author Share Posted 28 November , 2005 Hello All, Edith Cavell was in Belgium since 1906, two years after, she was appointed matron of the Berkendael Institute in Brussels in Belgium. She was always in that function when arrive the war. The 7-5-1919, Edith Cavell's body was exhumed and returned to the UK and buried in Norwitch Cathedral. At my knowledge, she never been enlisted in an Army Nursing Service. Her name doesn’t appear in the CWGC data base. Regards Pierre
Jim Strawbridge Posted 29 November , 2005 Share Posted 29 November , 2005 Hello All, Her name doesn’t appear in the CWGC data base. Regards Pierre It wouldn't, she was a civilian and not serving under the flag of her country.
