Today's Sunday Times Magazine (Aug 17) has an article containing several colour photos from WW1 which were produced by the first commercial process available. The pics are mainly of French & colonial troops.

The article promotes a new book by Hew Strachan (The First World War) and a new Channel 4 TV series (The First World War) starting Sept 20.

What colonial troops?

Any link?

In fact, having found a link using Google, could someone copy the article to here, as you have to pay to see the Magazine section if you are overseas.

Copying the article would be a breach of copyright.

2) French troops in trench lined with poppies

3) French soldier on fire step at Hirtzbach, Alsace

4) Algerian Spahis in France

5) Canadian forestry troops in France

6) Dead unidentified soldier

7) French nurse, Miss Saint-Paul

8) French soldiers Bastille Day 1917

9) French Zouaves in 1913

10) French troops at newspaper stand 1917

...However, I obtained this photograph (which is one of the ones used in the article) from a seperate source. (It's number 3 on the above list).

I've got one or two others, not shown in the article, (somewhere) that I could post if anyone's interested.

Dave.

It is not a part of the trilogy. It is entitled simply "The First World War" and is produced to accompany the TV series of the same rather basic name.
