The weapons on the nearer overhead beam are Webley revolvers, those on the beam in the background are Very flare pistols.

A clearer version of the photograph is in Dennis Winter's The First of the Few, and canvas bags for holding spent cartridges, from observer's Lewis guns, can be seen in the side cupboards.

Thanks Gareth, very interesting

Not a very clear pic. I find when I reduce the size of newspaper images I always get that grid like effect running through - if anyone wants a larger scanned pic (the orginal size) PM me and I'll send one via e-mail
