For Christmas ,one year, my wife bought me a group of items awarded to the above named VAD. At present, apart from having her MIC, I do not know much about her. The person my wife bought them from, in Edinburgh, thought that Elsie Bonar was from Granton on Spey. I would be interested if anyone can give me any details about her ?

The collection consists of

the BWM & VM group named 'E.R.T Bonar VAD'

The British Red Cross War Service medal, in it's issue box,

Proficiency in Red Cross nursing medal named '23196 R,T Bonar'

a 10 year service badge BRCS named '4765 R Bonar'

a For Service BRCS badge numbered 20846,

a medal ribbon bar for the Italian war service medal with two silver stars,

a blue waist belt.

and lastly 5 red tapes about 2 inches long, which are about 5 mm wide and made of a braded material. Any ideas what these are for ?

Thanks for looking,

Stewart

The British Red Cross will probably have some information about her, if you enquire through British Red Cross Society. Quote the various B.R.C.S. numbers you have.

Emily Oldfield, the Information Assistant, has been very helpful with my enquiries.
