Guest Cathyd Posted 18 November , 2005 Share Posted 18 November , 2005 I am trying to find out more about my great great uncle Arthur. He was born in Dublin and was in the Dublin Militia. His family bought him out but he then went to England where he joined the South Irish Horse. He was gassed in WW1 and after the war, lived in Manchester where he married Kathleen Kennedy (also from Dublin).
Jerrymurland Posted 18 November , 2005 Share Posted 18 November , 2005 Try here for starters, Doug was very helpful when I had a Irish Horse question: http://southirishhorse.com/ Also the Long Long Trail website (of which this forum is part) is a good start. Dear Cathyd, I have a fairly extensive database covering South Irish Horse officers and men. There is not Arthur Richard Claude Kavanagh. This probably means that he he was transferred from the SIH before going overseas. Do you have any ohter dtails on him?
