treetop Posted 10 November , 2005 Share Posted 10 November , 2005 One of the more interesting moments in my research occured today when a friend showed me details of his grandfathers postcards, records. The man was killed on 25 December 1915 close to Albert before the Somme advance serving with the R.E's attached to DLI 1/2 bn. Bob Scott had been keeping a diary/book of notes regarding how to build a bridge, measure angles of trajectiles and other engineering notes but a hole passed clean through the centre of the diary and appears to have been the cause of death, possibly by a sniper shot?Quite humbling to touch something like that considering what day tomorrow is.
