Moonraker Posted 9 November , 2005 Share Posted 9 November , 2005 This photo shows a tank in Salisbury Market Place for the city's War Bond Week, March 4 to 9, 1918; the Week aimed to raise £52,000 to purchase 21 aeroplanes, a target of £2 10s for each of the city's 21,000 people. In fact £165,204 was raised. The tank was taken by rail to "a southern port", at a guess Southampton to cross the Channel for active service. Details of the tank will be welcome; can this particular one's history be traced from the number "211"? Thanks Moonraker
delta Posted 9 November , 2005 Share Posted 9 November , 2005 Looks like a Mark IV female to me; this seems to be a little late for it to be deployed to France but who knows.
