PhilW Posted 8 November , 2005 Share Posted 8 November , 2005 Warrinder Bowes joined up in Leyburn in August 1914 along with my Grandfather (J A Watson) and others. Joe Wilson, JAW and Fred Langstaffe survived; Willie Smith killed in 1916, Warrinder died on 9/11/1918 and is buried in Terlincthun Cemetery, Wimille, overlooking Boulogne and, on a clear day, the White Cliffs of Dover. He was the son of a Leyburn butcher and, according to my Grandmother "rather a wild boy"! Don't know much else about him, but he is still remembered.
