Not including Stoker Mechanic which although a none substantive rate and removed in 1907 was still extant during the Great War. Charles

joseph Posted 6 November , 2005 Share Posted 6 November , 2005 The Royal Navy had four branches Millitary,Engineering,Medical and Accountant each of which was devided into classes of rating. The Engineering Branch consisted of three Classes(Departments) Stokers, Artisans and Artificers all of which had there own rank structure.

per ardua per mare per terram Posted 25 December , 2005 Author Share Posted 25 December , 2005 There were also acting Stoker Petty Officers & CPOs too; it was not a substantive rank, which is why I didn't include it. Whilst PO2 can be seen on pre WWI service records, as they had been phased out, I didn’t include them. Thanks for the list of officers, but wouldn’t that be better in a separate officers thread? joseph Posted 25 December , 2005 Share Posted 25 December , 2005 Good Morning Fred and a merry Xmas, Just popped it in as the book says, Ill scan it in and post it. horatio2 Posted 12 September , 2019 Share Posted 12 September , 2019 (edited) They are all llisted by name in the column headed "Ships, etc. served in" and the dates in the column head "Period of service". E.g. HMS VIVID III - 11 Jul 1904 to 20 Dec 1904. Obviously you have to download the record first (see ordering and viewing options) or use the PREVIEW facility..
