PhilB Posted 5 November , 2005 Share Posted 5 November , 2005 In Haig`s Diary, (p480) he expresses concern over the likelihood of Australian troops refusing to go into the line. A footnote says that, in September, 1st & 59th Aust Bns refused to return to the front line in "mutinies of exhaustion". Haig quotes figures showing that losses per battalion from 21/3/18 to 25/10/18 were 45 officers + 1088 men for GB Bns, 36 + 704 for Australian Bns and 42 + 956 for Canadian Bns. This is all new to me. Can any Australian member comment? Phil B

PhilB Posted 5 November , 2005 Author Share Posted 5 November , 2005 Thanks, Steve. Very informative. One wonders if a GB unit would have been treated as leniently? Phil B
