Paul Johnson Posted 4 November , 2005 Share Posted 4 November , 2005 The posts below relate to papers found in the War Diary of the 2/21 London Regiment at the NA. They contain the details of a Trench Raid made by the 2/22 London Regiment on the 8th October 1916. One of the Awards is for a Trench Raid on the 9th October 1916. I am unsure if this is a typing error or if it is a reference to a seperate raid. The Regimental History of the 2/21 Londons simply states that on the 8th October 1916 a "successful raid was made". As you will see some of the awards are for men from other Regiments or Battalions who were involved in the raid. It is rare to find details about the awards for Military Medals so I thought you may find these of interest. I will post any Casualty Lists or Award details as I find them so please accept my apologies if these postings seem a bit erratic.
