frev Posted 4 November , 2005 Share Posted 4 November , 2005 I checked out this exhibition while it was on display in Castlemaine and found it fascinating. Some of the photos were taken by Adolph Hommel (German liaison officer with the Ottoman Army) who had given a set to his interpreter - who's granddaughter had passed them on to Tolga Ornek - who in turn made them available to the AWM. Each visitor receives a well produced booklet which contains an explanation of each photo & relic (in both English & Turkish). It also contains small copies of some of the photos. Amongst the artifacts was a nose cap from a shell fired by 'Beachy Bill' & a stunning Turkish pilot's cap badge. I'd say it's worth a look - if it's coming to site near you (mind you, I live nowhere near Castlemaine!) Cheers, Frev.
