Can anyone help here ?

I have on my village (Lt Walsingham, Norfolk) the name of a Samuel Sharp but cannot find him on the CWGC site.

There is a record of him here on the local Norfolk library records -

Sapper Samuel Sharp, 242nd Artisan Works Company, Royal Engineers

Sapper Sharp was born in 1880.

He enlisted on 15th May 1916, and died on 5th May 1917.

He is buried at New [Little] Walsingham churchyard

but there is no headstone in the churchyard either

help !

Chris

I has a check on SDGW and there is only one Samuel Sharp of the Royal Engineers, killed in action in 1918 from Yorkshire, no help there I'm afraid

Thanks Hambo

I have now checked and have him as Sharp on the library records and Sharpe on the war memorial.

Perhaps this might turn up something -

SHARP, SAM

Initials: S

Nationality: United Kingdom

Rank: Private

Regiment: West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own)

Unit Text: 2nd/6th Bn.

Date of Death: 03/05/1917

Wild chance I iknow but ithe date of death is within a couple of days and the initial is S.

Could you check this one

many thanks

Hi Chris

This Sam Sharp was born and enlisted in Braford and was killed in action in France/Flanders doesn't sound like your man. Had a look for Sharpe and only one Samuel KIA in 1918
