Here Captain FRYATT was shot for having tried to ram U33 on 28/3/1915

The original wall where Captain FRYATT was shot, still exists.

Crew of the Vindictive after Zeebrugge raid

Could you please tell me where you managed to get the picture of the HMS Vindictive with crew. My grandfather was a member of the crew but I can't distinguish him.

Does anyone have information regarding the Zeebrugge association formed after the raid and the survivors going to Belgium to see the unveiling of the memorial and receiving of medals by King Leopold?

Hello,

I have spent five years researching the Zeebrugge Raid and have nearly completed writing a book about the raid. If you can tell me your father's name I maybe able to help you with further information. If you have a photo of your your father I would be honoured to include him in my book. So far I have included the photos of 160 men who took part in the operation.

Please contact me at paulkendall291@aol.com

I look forward to your response.

Kind regards

Paul Kendall

Hi All,

don't know too much about the Zeebruge raid, but just had an email from a relative of Captain Halahan. I am mainly interested in his youngest brother Bob killed on my great grandfather's submarine in 1916. But she was telling me the awfully sad story of how he knew that the Zeebruge mission was a suicide mission he was being sent on, and he wrote letters to his wife beforehand saying he loved them, and knew he wouldnt' return etc. This is exactly what he brother Bob did before he left for the Baltic, and again before his last patrol, so much so that Bob had asked his best friend, another Naval officer, to look after his wife and children if anyhting happened, and this indeed he honoured.

DB.
