Remembered Today:

Batterie Pommern - Koekelare/Moere

Regulus 1

Recommended Posts

There was also a 38 cm battery at Koekelare, often refered to as Moere, which is wrong. It was also known as the Leughenboom battery. Only 1 gun.

The Germans 'recycled' the gun in 1941. The bunkers were destroyed in the 1950's.

Digging out an unexploded 38 cm shell at Dunkirk, the main target of the Pommern, which had it's name in honour of the men who died on the SMS Pommern during the Skagerrak Battle.

Aerial photo. At the bottom the gun and the 2 ammo bunkers, a little higher the command bunker and firing control, at the top of the photo the main ammo bunker.
