Kruiseik 1914

On 29/10/14 the remnants of No 4 Company 1Bn Grenadier Guards under the command of Captain Rennie rallied by the brickworks at Kruisiek off the Menin Road East of Gheluvelt. None of them were seen again.

Does anyone have, or no where to get a map showing these brickworks or showing the area sometime just before 1914? I was told, from a local source, that the remains of the brickworks chimney survived until the 1970s but can find no trace of it on any trench maps of the area (Gheluvelt 28 NE3 between square 29 and 35).

Dave - You might go back to your local source to see if there are maps kept at the local town hall or library. That might be your best bet.
