Guest WMARTIN Posted 14 October , 2005 Share Posted 14 October , 2005 Hi, Another newbie. Looking up info on my namesake and Grandfather Pte William Martin. Got hold of his medal card, have a Royal Scots badge (no inscriptions) and a photo dated 28/2/1917 of him standing next to "a Belgian Couple" from annotation on back. Luckily going down to London soon so a trip to Kew is on. I'm trying to decipher these comments from the Medal card. BWM. Rec(l)d CRV 33/B of 2.1.31 I'll attach the image too if it helps. Thanks in advance EDIT: Obviously a problem, didn't think I'd defeat you lot with my first or so post!

Stebie9173 Posted 24 October , 2005 Share Posted 24 October , 2005 It refers to the BWM Medal being returned (Retd) to the Issuing Office dated 2.1.1931 but why, I do not know... Steve.
Guest WMARTIN Posted 24 October , 2005 Share Posted 24 October , 2005 Steve, That was quick! Many thanks. I've no idea why it would have been returned either. More questions than answers, but thank you for your help. Willie
