Matt Dixon Posted 4 October , 2005 Share Posted 4 October , 2005 G Booth, 24435 Royal Welsh Fusiliers, is shown by CWGC as being 73 years old at the time of his death on the 18th September 1918.....surely a mistake? Wouldn't that make him the oldest soldier to die?
PPCLI Posted 4 October , 2005 Share Posted 4 October , 2005 Garnett Booth - according to the CWGC, the son of Mr. J. M. and Mrs. M. A. Booth, of Hill Top Farm, Holcombe, Manchester. His parents still alive at the time - what a long-lived family they must have been From FreeBMD: Garnett Booth born Sep 1895 quarter, Bury (registration district) 1901 census: age 5, residing at Ramsbottom, Lancashire (born Ramsbottom) So, probably should be 23 on the CWGC records (if this is the same person).
