Remembered Today:

Regimental number question

I'm puzzled by the following information on an MIC:

19 Hussars - 6338

Corp of Hussars - no number

War R - 40988

Is "War R" war reserve or perhaps Royal Warwickshire Regiment? Unfortunately I have no reference work near to hand, and am thus throwing this out for some kind soul to whom the answer may be obvious.

Cheers,

~Dan

Warwickshire Regiment ,the MiC online gives this unit & also that Cof H Number is the same as 19th Hussars Number as would be expected.

All it means is that he,for some reason transferred to the Warwickshire Regiment, probably after being wounded ,or ill & on recovery was posted to the Warwickshires.

Thanks for that. Hopefully I'll get lucky with his records and be able to flesh his story out a bit.
