KILTY Posted 2 August , 2003 Share Posted 2 August , 2003 Can anyone recommend a reputable company/person to carry out a repair to a ww1 cap badge of great sentimental value? Kilty
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 2 August , 2003 Share Posted 2 August , 2003 Kilty, What's wrong with it? Can you post a picture? Ian
KILTY Posted 3 August , 2003 Author Share Posted 3 August , 2003 Hello Ian, Sorry but I'm having trouble with this picture posting stuff, but I'll try to explain the problem with the badge. It's the Gordon Highlanders Officers 3 dimentional type, but one of the antlers on the stags head is broken off about a third of the way down; unfortunately the piece is missing and I woundered if it could be replaced. Regards Kilty.
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 3 August , 2003 Share Posted 3 August , 2003 Kilty, I have had a look at the problem. I think it would be best to leave your badge as it is. I personally don't think it can be repaired without damaging the antlers - they are fine and it would be easy to destroy the detail. Only my view though. KILTY Posted 3 August , 2003 Author Share Posted 3 August , 2003 Thanks Ian, I'll take your advice & leave it as it is. It was like that when I received it over 40 years ago with the glengarrry, but I've no idea as to the cause. But I suppose there is no harm in speculating !!
