"......Henry (Harry) France born Alveley, Shropshire 1894 served in the British Army in the First World War in both India and France. He was a Sapper in the Royal Engineers in France because he was a blacksmith by apprenticeship. After the war he often told stories of how he used to run telephone lines in France under fire ......."
