John_Hartley Posted 28 September , 2005 Share Posted 28 September , 2005 I think the War Diary 2/9th only go's to Feb 1918 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Andy At this point the 2/9th was absorbed into the 1/9th. Carley is not listed amongst the Roll of Honour for the 1/9th in the 42nd Division History, but there is a Lt Carley (no initials) amongst the list of the 1/7th. The History covers this period (of the attack on the Hindnberg Line)over 6 pages, making no reference to the 9th (nor does it mention Carley). I would assume that when the 2/9th was disbanded, Carley went to the 7th, but to play safe, I'd suggest you try and get hold of the 7th's diary to confirm the initials. Andy Shaw Posted 28 September , 2005 Author Share Posted 28 September , 2005 Thanks John, I'll follow your lead. I'm researching Lt Carley on behalf of a friend who purchased his memorial plaque, sounds like a visit to the NA is in order. I searched his mic and he started his military life as a private in the Naval Forces. Regards Andy
