Guest heiland laddie Posted 24 September , 2005 Share Posted 24 September , 2005 Hi everyone Way back in the 1970's, I acquired a British WW1 khaki tunic of the type used by kilted troops. I don't have it anymore, but I always wondered about the soldier who wore it. I recall it was the proper version with pleated pockets and shoulder reinforcement, not the utility tunic. The owner had entered his name inside - Private DUDGEON. I can't remember his service number, but it was a short number (4 digits ?) and his unit was 2nd Black Watch. The only identification on the outside of the tunic were on the lower cuff which had 3 or 4 inverted blue chevrons. The tunic was for a slim/smaller soldier, max 38 chest but more likely 36 inches if worn with shirt / and or waistcoat underneath. Any thoughts ?
