Rob B Posted 23 September , 2005 Share Posted 23 September , 2005 I read in an earlier thread that soldiers posted to the Labour Corps were probably wounded and not capable of front line service. My wifes grandfather has been a hard nut to pin down and having looked at his card I have some details that might help throw some light on his service: Private, Reg No: 36796 Royal Lancaster Regiment then 562859 Labour Corps. From family stories we have him in Gallipoli and then possibly France can any body throw any light on him? Thanks, Rob
John_Hartley Posted 23 September , 2005 Share Posted 23 September , 2005 Rob I'm not a King's Own expert but think that the service number is probably too late for Gallipoli (his Medal Index Card should have given you some dates). The regimental museum (at Lancaster) has a good database of information and may be able to throw some light on that part of his service. Worth a contact, in my view.
