Does the Trinkgeld entrance fee refer to the coins used in Germany post war for beer? Or is it that you get a drink with admission, which doesn't sound like a bad deal either?

Andy,

to visit the memorial place, you had to pay 2 Francs entrée. Trinkgeld is extra money for the man who guided you through the trench and explained the object to you.

German bunkers in front of the Trench of Death, on the left bank of the Yser.

The 'Petroltanks' are situated further behind the bunkers.

Present view from the Trench of Death.

The bunker situiated to the left, still remains.

The bunker situated in the Yser, has since long times been destroyed.
