SOMMESOLDIER Posted 20 September , 2005 Share Posted 20 September , 2005 Hi There, Could anyone please help me out ? I would like to know the whereabouts of the 18th Hussars on and around the 13-5-15 and what action they were involved in. Any help would be very much appreciated. Cheers Tim. ianw Posted 20 September , 2005 Share Posted 20 September , 2005 Cavalry Division was heavily engaged around Ypres - even dismounted in the trenches ! - in May 1915 , so I suspect the 18th H may have been involved similarly. Much cavalry sucked into the fighting near Bellewarde Lake.

CROONAERT Posted 20 September , 2005 Share Posted 20 September , 2005 Tim. On this date , the 18th Huss. were involved in the battle of the Frezenberg Ridge and were in the front-line immediately in front of Wieltje. Their opponants at this time were the German 4th Marine Brigade. In today's terms, their position was roughly half way between Wieltje and what's now the A19 motorway. dave.
