Black Watch at Loos

This Barton man Fell at Loos 25th Sept 1915 I expect this was the Highland Divn Assault that Philip Gibbs put in his memoirs. I may be wrong.

He lived in Ardrossan? in Scotland but apart from this I have not much to go on.

If anyone can help I'd be glad to hear from ya.

Hi,

Sorry I didn't pick up on this before.

Unfortunately I can't add anything to what's been posted.

There's no mention of Gouldthorp in the war diary or in Major Stewart's account of the battle.

I'll be visiting Balhousie Castle in a couple of weeks. I doubt there will be any mention of Sergt. Gouldthorp in any of the sources but I should be able to get you his date of enlistment.

All the best,

Derek
