the gunners dream Posted 15 September , 2005 Share Posted 15 September , 2005 Hi there, What does the medal have on it? E.G. is something like the 1915 Star or the Victory Medal from WWI? This a link to the Queen's Regiment: http://www.1914-1918.net/queens.htm Having carried out a search of the NA this is the link to his medal index card from WWI. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...1&resultcount=6 I also searched the CWGC site and checked my copy of the SDGW database, as far as I can see he survived the war. However, there are so many parameters that may not help you to find his surviving relatives. Parameters such as people getting married, moving away etc. It's not impossible, but organisations such as the CWGC and the MOD have problems locating surviving relatives themselves and a lot of the records were destroyed in WWII anyway. Guest mwb1 Posted 16 September , 2005 Share Posted 16 September , 2005 Hi Steve , Thanks for your reply and the links. I think it's a "Great War" medal as it has 1914-1918,man on horse,Georgivs v on the reverse side. Martin
the gunners dream Posted 16 September , 2005 Share Posted 16 September , 2005 Martin, It's the Great War Medal, see this link so that you can confirm it. http://www.fylde.demon.co.uk/pip.htm I'd start by downloading the medal index card I have provided. The information it provides might give you an address to follow up on. But the info the MIC provides can only be veiwed at the NA and if his service records did survive the war then you can only view those at the NA. This is a link to info on this site about MICs: http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/grandad.htm#medals Steve
