Could this be another friendly German sign, left for the occupying British after a German withdrawal? The famous 'Don't be angry; just wonder' sign in Peronne being a good example. If the uniforms didn't look early-war (and the sign didn't indicate Gouzeaucourt), I'd bet on this being taken just before the German withdrawal in 1917.
