Hello!

I was wondering if someone could provide me with information about Pte. E Smith 9183 from 2/Welsh Regiment and his 1914 Star with 5th Aug. - 22nd Nov. 1914 Bar?

Unit Text: 2nd Bn.

Age: 28

Date of Death: 11/11/1917

Service No: 9183

Additional information: Son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Smith, of 64, Marston Rd., Frome, Somerset.

Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead

Grave/Memorial Reference: XXII. HH. 29.

Cemetery: LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY

The Soldiers Died in the Great War (SDGW) database shows that he was born and lived in Frome in Somerset and enlisted in Cardiff, he died of wounds.

Hi Steve!

I did buy his 1914 Star with the clasp in Sweden at a store called Inter-antikva in Stockholm 1978 and it´s the 1st time I have got some info about him. Thanks a lot!

I was thinking the other day that if there are relatives that are interested in the medal so please contact me. I am willing to give the medal to them or 2/Welsh Museum.
