BULLDOGFOGG Posted 4 September , 2005 Share Posted 4 September , 2005 If a soldier was awarded the DCM and subsequently died from wounds 6 months later, would he have been personally awarded the medal in hospital (in this case Boulogne) or would the medal have been sent to his NOK ?? How long would the actual issue take after the London Gazette citation ?? Regards Kevin

How long would the actual issue take after the London Gazette citation ?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Either scenario could apply,The Medal{or more often just the Ribbon on a bar} could be presented to the recipient well before the Gazette promulgation, which effectively is the final Official regocnition of the award. The Medal could have been bestowed @ a Civic ceremony on the Recipents N~o~K,by a local dignatory or even posted on.
