J T Gray Posted 30 August , 2005 Share Posted 30 August , 2005 I was reading Spike Mays "Fall Out the Officers" last night, and came across the following passage - January 1st 1930 at Trimulgherry, in the mess after the new years celebrations, there was a Ghurka Sergeant "Against the bottle green of his smart jacket gleamed medals of the kaiser's war, one with a ribbon as red as the scar across his forehead" Anyone know of a Ghurka with a WW1 VC who'd have been serving at "Trim" in 1930? Or just artistic licence? Adrian
Kevin Lynott Posted 30 August , 2005 Share Posted 30 August , 2005 There are two OR Gurkha VCs from the Great war both with the 2nd Bn 3rd QAOGR and they survived. Both were Rfm at the time of the award and they were Kulbir Thapa and Karanbahadur Rana. Thapa reached the rank of Sgt and returned to India after the war and was discharged in 1929. J T Gray Posted 2 September , 2005 Author Share Posted 2 September , 2005 Sorry for the dealy in replying Kevin - thought I'd leave it a few days and see if anyone else had a look. Sounds as though he COULD have met him, but perhaps not in the year claimed. Thank you for your input! Adrian
