burlington Posted 28 August , 2005 Share Posted 28 August , 2005 My wife found this picture in her box of photos and has no idea why it was there. Can anyone identify the era please and any other information. I am no good at uniforms at all. The photo is mounted on an unused postcard and the trade name is Leroi Studios, Oxford St, London. Thank you Martin
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 28 August , 2005 Share Posted 28 August , 2005 What a handsome Chap! He is a Lance Corporal,[one "stripe"] & the Uniform is WW1 Period, unfortunately there doesnt appear to be any Shoulder titles {or they have been obscured by the Photographer}to indicate his Regiment or Corps & his Buttons are "General Service" ie the Royal Arms, worn by other ranks in all units throughout the War,Could be an "Enlistment" photograph, the sitter wearing a "Photographer's Stock" uniform for the Photograph
