chrisharley9 Posted 25 August , 2005 Share Posted 25 August , 2005 Am looking for any details at all on this chap. There is no CWGC record that I can find. He died 23rd August 1918 in the Central Military Hospital, Eastbourne. Many thanks All The Best Chris
Dolphin Posted 25 August , 2005 Share Posted 25 August , 2005 Chris Flight Cadet Robert Kirkwood Galloway (from Dunbar, East Lothian) of No 50 Training Depot Station RAF, at Eastbourne, died on 23 August 1918 from injuries received the previous day when he crashed while flying Avro 504 D1624. His place of burial appears to be unknown. I hope this helps. Gareth

Dolphin Posted 25 August , 2005 Share Posted 25 August , 2005 Chris I'm pleased to help, and I'll provide what information I can in the future. I suppose putting posts on the Forum is the best approach, as it exposes the enquiry to a wider audience. Best wishes Gareth

Stephen Nulty Posted 26 August , 2005 Share Posted 26 August , 2005 Chris I noticed that Robert Kirkwood Galloway is one of the men shown on the website cwgc.co.uk as not being recorded by CWGC. I don't know whether this suggests that somebody has previously investigated the man I suggested above and dismissed him as not being the same person or not. Strange. Stephen Nulty Posted 26 August , 2005 Share Posted 26 August , 2005 Chris That's right, it isn't. Rather than explain it, I suggest you have a quick visit to check it out, as you may find it of interest.
