Has any one read this book and could give me any insight on it? I have only found a few copies of it and they are more than a little on the pricey side. Is it worth the money? Thx for any replys........ if it is good and any one has a copy they would like to move off their book shelf I'd be interested in any reasonable offer...Thx Tag

Personally I think it is an excellent memoir, based largely on the author's letters. It didn't sell well at the time it came out, and I suspect it is actually a fairly rare book. It is years since I saw a copy.

The author served with the Hull Pals as an officer; from memory he was in the 10th East Yorks.

A book seller in the US is offering a copy via Abebooks for £34.30 + postage.

Tag,

This book is by Cecil Slack 4th East Yorkshire Regiment and was based on his diarys and letters during the great war. The diarys and letters along with newspaper articles are used for teaching history in East Yorkshire. Available here. http://www.greatwar.eril.net/default.htm there is a lot on this site that is not in the book.

Regards Charles
