I am looking for the citations for the following for General Dempsey

CBE

DSO

MC

Only the MC is a First World War award, but by chance someone may have the others.

You may want to try the London Gazette. Or if you have access the Times archive search facility. Sometimes the access to this is open.

He was in the Royal Berkshire Regiment. Their Museum (in Salisbury) has a good website - www.thewardrobe.org.uk - and is an extremely good and helpful place. try that.

It's strange that he isn't very well represented on the Web - apart from D-Day and general references on the NW Europe campaign. You won't find 'citations' for the KCB - oh, and by the way he ended up a KBE too - as they're Orders. His DSO was for command of 13 Infantry Brigade at Dunkirk. By the way, he gave orders that his personal papers be destroyed on his death - and they were. I wonder why!
