Mark2o Posted 13 August , 2005 Share Posted 13 August , 2005 I am trying to determine if MLX 66 was a Motor Boat / Launch and if so does anyon ehave any details as to her actions during the war? Thanks, Mark
Malcolm Posted 14 August , 2005 Share Posted 14 August , 2005 This appears difficult. ML66 was a Motor Launch built in Canada. I can find no reference to a MLX66 Motor Boats were known as MB and there was an MB66 also known as Kia-Ora Coastal Motor Boats were know by the initials: CMB, and there was a CMB66. Any other clues?? Aye Malcolm
Michael Lowrey Posted 14 August , 2005 Share Posted 14 August , 2005 And to continue with what Malcolm said, the Royal Navy also has a series of X-lighter type landing craft. These were numbered from X 1 and up and included X 66. Best wishes, Michael
Malcolm Posted 14 August , 2005 Share Posted 14 August , 2005 as did fuel ships from January 1918 eg. BURMA had the Pendant X14, THERMOL was X71. Another possibility is this could be a Fishery Trawler requisitioned from a home port of METHIL , FIFE and used in the Forth defences. Port identification is ML. Mark2o Posted 14 August , 2005 Author Share Posted 14 August , 2005 Michael & Malcolm, Thank you both for responding. The query is in relation to a chap who was a Leading Stoker. The MLX 66 information is coming from another gentleman who has his SR. He states it's MLX 66 & RND Said from 1916-1918. I know Said was a depot. Now of course Sr's are hard to read at times but I dont have it in front of me to actually say if it is only ML 66. Cheers, Mark
