Paul Reed Posted 20 July , 2003 Share Posted 20 July , 2003 It's a French Schneider tank. They were used in great numbers on the Chemin des Dames in April 1917, and on the Calefornia Plateau a large number were knocked out; there is a tank memorial there now (north of Reims). For more details of the tank see: http://www.chars-francais.net/archives/schneider.htm

Marco Posted 20 July , 2003 Author Share Posted 20 July , 2003 That's the one Paul, many thanks. The memorial at the plateau contains two very ugly post ww2 French armoured cars b.t.w. My pictures were taken at the French tank museum at Saumur b.t.w. It also contains a ww1 French Saint-Chamond and naturally a Renault FT17. The collection of ww2 German tanks is very complete and (to my surprise) beats Bovington Regards, Marco
