stiletto_33853 Posted 11 August , 2005 Share Posted 11 August , 2005 I wonder if anyone can help me re this gentleman , a local man to me. Second son of Mr & Mrs G Crockett of "Langore", 80 Cotswold Road, Westcliff-on-Sea. Educated at Emwell House School, Warminster and Kilburn Grammar School. He joined the Artists Rifles in 1915 and went to France. In 1917 he volunteered for the RFC. He was sent to the Italian Front and was killed in action on 19th September 1918. Can anyone tell me about this action and what he was flying. Many thanks Andy
Dolphin Posted 11 August , 2005 Share Posted 11 August , 2005 Andy Lt W J Crockett (pilot) and 2Lt Charles Gordon Stanley (observer - formerly Royal Warwickshire Regiment) were flying RE 8 E261 of No 34 Sqn RAF when they were killed in a flying accident. Both airmen are buried at Montecchino Precalcino, Italy. I hope this helps you. Gareth
