RFC aircraft 1916

7624 was an FE 8 built under licence by Vickers Ltd at Weybridge. On 9 November 1916 it was flown by Capt T Mapplebeck, of No 40 Sqn RFC, on an Offensive Patrol over La Bassée when it was hit by anti-aircraft fire and forced to land behind the German Lines. Capt Mapplebeck became a Prisoner of War.

I hope this helps.
