Guest mtrain53 Posted 4 August , 2005 Share Posted 4 August , 2005 Sorry, I got caught up in trying to get the image attached. On the back of the photograph, it indicates 1918. Hard to read but I think it refers to 4th Batt, Royal West Surrey Regiment, Surrey England. It has "The Country Parson" written on it. The name is either Jack Spencer or B. Spencer. Graham Stewart Posted 4 August , 2005 Share Posted 4 August , 2005 Mark, Definatley looks like a pre-war Territorial of the 4th Bn, The Queens(Royal West Surrey Regt)(T.F.) in his scarlet tunic with white piping and white metal general service pattern buttons. The Battalion had it's H.Q. and 'A' & 'B' Company's located at Croydon; 'C' Company at Crystal Palace; 'D' Company at Croydon; 'E' Company at Caterham with a Drill Station at Godstone; 'F' Coy at Croydon; 'G' Coy at Lingfield with Drill Station at Oxted; 'H' Coy at Croydon. Guest mtrain53 Posted 4 August , 2005 Share Posted 4 August , 2005 Thanks for the info. Also on the back of the photo is "Capseo Aivers, 1910" It is hard to read, so that may not be the exact spelling. P.S. I do find now that it said on the back 4th Batt.
