egbert Posted 29 July , 2005 Share Posted 29 July , 2005 Hi Roel, as you can read in my signature I am most interested in Gueudecourt. To be more precise: could you do a thorough check-up for time 22Sept until 1OOct 1916 at Gueudecourt sector (next to RIR 36); I am even more interested in what actions took place 30Sept-1Oct, flamethrowers, livens projector activities, trench condition etc. My uncle died 1 Oct 1916 in Bayonet trench
roel22 Posted 30 July , 2005 Author Share Posted 30 July , 2005 Hi Egbert, A first quickscan hasn't revealed too much on Guedecourt yet, but I will post the few things I've found in a few days. I do have some eyewitness-accounts on the battlefields near Lesboefs, Morval and Combles. Are they any good to you? I don't think battlefield-circumstances would have been much different from Guedecourt (but I'm no Somme-expert). By the way: how is your German? regards Roel
egbert Posted 7 August , 2005 Share Posted 7 August , 2005 Roel, I am eager to look forward whatever you found! I learned reading, writing and understanding the German language fairly good, but it happened many years ago. I am able to cope with all German language texts you will post/send!
