Desmond7 Posted 28 July , 2005 Share Posted 28 July , 2005 For a while I struggled to find a truly solid local connection to this guy. Yeah, he was BORN locally but not much else. Then I found out his wife and child were living in Princes Street, Ballymena ... only made connection when I looked at the results of a wartime 'bonny baby' contest for children of local soldiers! Strange things you find in these old papers ... any more about him or his CSM Dad ... was the father well known as a regular KOYLI type? Des GUTHRIE George Lcpl. 2nd KOYLI. Died of wounds 10th April 1918. Service no. 10425. Aged 21, born Drummaul, Randalstown, enlisted Pontefract, Yorkshire. Wife and child at Princes Street, Ballymena Son of RSM Guthrie, Derby Road, Nottingham. Buried Doullens Communal Ceme. Somme. Comm. on Ballymena War Memorial.
