Guest wrinklyone Posted 27 July , 2005 Share Posted 27 July , 2005 My uncle was awarded DSM for his part in an action on 12 May 1918 when his sub, D4, torpedoed UB72. I have found mentions in various books (e.g. Terraine, Grant, Carr) and received help from RNSM at Gosport. However I have never yet found any official ADM record similar to an army 'War Diary' at Kew. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? kin47 Posted 27 July , 2005 Share Posted 27 July , 2005 Hello You will be more likely to find a report of proceedings in ADM 1, than a war diary. When I began I was looking for war diaries for all sorts of organisations, only to find none were kept. Failing a r.o.p., try the war diary for the port that submarine was based in. All best and good luck don
