Guest tobystrutt Posted 27 July , 2005 Share Posted 27 July , 2005 Hi, There's a book entitled 'Shot at Dawn' by Julian Putkowski, that has some details. There's also 'For the Sake of Example' by Anthony Babbington. The Monocled Mutineer, which is about Percy Topliss, has not been proved to be factually correct. On a separate note, if anyone knows any descendants of anyone involved in the Etaples mutiny (such as Jesse Short) , then do let me know. I'm working on a documentary on World War One for Channel 4. Toby <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There have been quite a few threads on Topliss and the Etaples mutiny, try the search engine to find them. Devils Own Posted 5 September , 2005 Share Posted 5 September , 2005 Slightly off-topic. When I was at University Of Wales, Aberystwyth, I was an extra in the Monocled Mutineer (Paul McGann worked with me. 1985?) which further stimulated my WWI interest. It was great to be involved over a number of weeks and though it was obviously not the real thing, there were hundreds of us involved and it gave us a glimpse into what some things may have been like. I was wondering if there is anybody else registered here who also took part. Regards Steve
