Does any Pal know of any published photos of this location near Ypres taken during the Great War - my great uncle was KIA there in 1918

Chris,

I can't help you with a photo, but I suppose you know where Crucifix Corner was ?

5 km (3 miles) south of the centre of Dranouter (actually : south southeast by south), 0.8 km ( 1/2 mile) from the French-Belgian border, and approx. 1.5 km (less than a mile) southwest of the road Dranouter - Nieuwkerke (Neuve-Eglise).

Chris,

Next time I'm in the IFF Museum Documentation Centre I'll have a look if there might be a photo in the Dranouter or Nieuwkerke folder, but I'm not optimistic.

Chris,

The posting of Aurel, describing the place he visited, remembered me that the following website (I know that area in another respect, ‘iconoclasm’ ) gave some photos of that area (De Zwartemolen , a hamlet of Dranoutre (=Dranouter)). You can find the photos by doing the following :

- call the following website : http://www.heuvellandverbeeldt.be/ (dutch language)

- click on ‘ zoeken ‘ (=search)

a new page is opened and

-‘ fill in ‘ : +zwarte +molen

and click thereafter on ‘zoeken ‘

so you will find some photos of that area, even the crucifix.

Lots of luck,

Gilbert Deraedt :(
