Any info on Lt Joseph Edward Smith 60th Squadron ?

Lt J E Smith, from Stretton, Cheshire, was flying SE 5a C9297 of No 60 Sqn RAF on an Offensive Patrol when he was killed during combat with a Fokker D.VII over Marquion. No accredited claim from a German fighter pilot seems to match his loss.

On 31 August 1918 Lt Smith was flying E4001 when his aircraft was damaged in combat over Bapaume.

I hope this helps

Gareth
