There is however a John Thomas Burrows CSM ,ASC buried @ Aldershot Military Cemetery, "Jack" is often used by families in referring to "John"

N/A;MiC are unavailable @ present but you may be better off starting your search there by looking for a J.Burrows with an MM index card. ;)

I am not sure this will help but:

SDGW has the following

Private, 7759, John Thomas Burrows MM, West Yorkshire Regiment

Born: Medbourne, Market Harborough.

Enlisted: Market Harborough

He was killed in action on 27th May 1918, aged 34 years and he is buried at Nine Elms British cemetery in Grave XI A 18

He was the husband of Alice Ida May Burrows, of Great Dalby, Melton Mowbray

His parents (per 1891 Census) would appear to be William and Ann Burrows of Medbourne.

Unless I have got the wrong man the CSM Burrows, buried at Aldershot, mentioned by Harry above is John Michael Burrows (Born Kildare, Enlisted Aldershot, Resident Clerkenwell).

Regards

Pam

The London Gazette of 19-11-1917 has an MM awarded to:

7759 Sjt. J. T. Burrows, W. York. R. (Burbage).

(Burbage is just SE of Hinckley, Leicestershire)

The MICs list him as Private/Private 1st West Yorkshire Regiment, though the MM MIC says Sergeant.

I concur with Pam's Census info: Parents Ann & William living in Medbourne, brothers Frederick and Robert, sister Anne. John was aged 7 per the 1891 Census which would fit with age 34 in 1918.

Steve.
